Sweetness

or "a few of the gazillinon reasons I love my kids".

Today I had to extract a splinter from Dailah's foot. It was tiny but was lodged in a little deep. I sat her up on the table so I could get better light.

She whimpered when I glazed her foot (no drama there).

The boys literally jumped out of their chairs and came running to her side. Tariku and Tomas each grabbed a hand, Binyam started rubbing her other foot. Trysten asked her what she needed, when she kept crying he turned to me and asked me what I needed to help her.

I tease that it's no wonder she's convinced herself she really is a princess, but in all actuality I'm so thankful they get a long so well. And truly so inspired by their love of each other. There was no "getting to know you" stage. They met, recognized each other's humanity, focused on the ways in which they were alike and gave each other grace when their differences threatened to drive a wedge between them...I want to be a bit more like that in my relationships. They are amazing tiny humans, my kids.

In related news, yesterday Trysten said he was going to try out this vegetarian thing too. Today he says,

"Mom, do you know why I want to be a vegetarian? One of the reasons is because I don't like what people do to animals but the main reason is I don't want you to have to give up prime rib by yourself. It's our favorite food, maybe we can do it better together."

Yeah, I think so.

Today was their last day of spring break (they get 2 weeks because they are on a balanced calendar). I am going to miss them more than I can possibly relate to you right now.

They are the reason I think I could have more...they are also the reason Zach thinks we are good where we're at. ;)

Touche I say.

Either way, love them.

We're at the end of two weeks off as well, and my anxiety approaching this time turned out to be for naught. Except for all the work I'm missing. The kids have flourished with all this time together. It's been rather amazing and I am thrilled to my soul for this. We didn't even really do that much and the weather's been just too windy/freezing to be outside much. They essentially just enjoyed all this time together. Even songs about how much they love each other.

I'm with Zach:) For us at least. You, wonder woman, on the other hand...

That Trysten is just too sweet! What a completely adorable thing he wants to do for you.

Princess Doozy sure has quite a life. Her loyal subjects go all out to make her happy. I think it's wonderful. :)

Love your kiddos. Someday we will all meet and I will freak them out by how much I love them, especially when they will have no clue who I am ;)

I've been away from the computer for a few days and it appears you've posted one million times on everything that I love. How did I miss all this? I'm proud of you for going down the vegetarian. I'm curious to hear what you think and how your taste buds change. It's been almost a year for me and I don't miss meat--at all. I still cook it all the time for my family, but I do my part to buy ethically grown poultry. I'm so glad your kids are lovin' on each other and that you had all this time with them. So sweet!

This is such a sweet post. Your kids are awesome. One of the most humbling and beautiful things to watch in our adoption...has been the love my children all have for each other. I knew they loved each other a lot before. But, when I saw how openly and passionately they welcomed our daughter--it blew my mind.
